On Saturday night, we embarked on a conquest of UBRS. The group of adventurer was composed of 3 rogues (Antigravity, Elthis and Filtch from Dogs of War), 3 mages (Flicker, Kroul and Sid), 3 hunters (Badzim, Omniel and Tenebrion), 2 priests (Olorrin and Tristania from PRX) and Madweaver, a druid.
Most of the readers probably know Tristania from PRX but might be wondering who Filtch is. My sources tell me he's a friend of a friend IRL whose third cousin twice removed was the roomate of a guildmate's brother. In other words, someone trustworthy.

The reader might notice the lack of warrior in our group. Something that would have prevented most group from even attempting the adventure. We however had Duljan with an amazing ability to tank and keep aggro. Most of us believed in him, but we had to repeat the mantra 'In Dulj we trust' to our most pessismistic members from time to time.

The loot that dropped before the beast is only a vague memory in the narrator's mind (note to the narrator: when drinking during a raid, take more screenshots to remember the events). Some of the things I remember:
Eye of Rend (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=16552) from Rend (duh!) I think.
Since Olorrin was with us, Codex: Prayer of Fortitude II (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=24845) dropped which Filtch got.
Beastalker's Belt (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=7685) dropped, which Omniel got, hax rolling 100.

Omniel has now 2 Beaststalker's Items, still far from stealing the 'Beastie Boy' nickname from Hammerli, who has 4 items. Tenebrion who lacks any Beastalker's gear will keep the nickname of 'Green Monkey' to reflect the nature of his equipment.

We dropped The Beast relatively easily, which gave Spiritshroud Leggings (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=19207) to Flicker and Lightforge Spaulders (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=20574) to ehh..... Duljan I think.

Shortly after The Beast, we encountered a rare spawn, a named mob called 'Step-sister'. For those who don't know what that is, it's like a Shrieking Banshee but it attacks over Team Speak. If you piss her off, it can make your life a living hell. It usually doesn't drop any loot when you beat her, only when you are nice to her.

Next Omniel had the responsibility of pulling the mobs separating us from the general. However, he hadn't realized that the reason we ask a hunter to do it is for his range ability. Instead, he body pulled the first group and quilcky died to learn a valuable lesson. After that things went well, although we did have a small scare when Omniel said "Do I pull the general?".

The group then moved to come face to face with Drakkisath. This is where Madweaver showed the true power of the druid, taking care of one of the guards with hibernate while the group killed the other and Duljan drank tea while discussing strategy with the general over a game of chess. Another druid power was needed shortly after killing both guard, Olorrin needing a rez after the general got angry for the external interference in his fight with Duljan. 2 seconds later, Olorrin was up and running (well healing actually). GO DRUIDS!!!

The general dropped 2 plate items, Breastplate of Valor (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=18832) and Brigam Girdle (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=18612). Unfortunately, because of a communication problem, we ended up leader rolling the breastplate while the two interested parites were discussing amongst themselves :( (I still feel bad about this since I'm the one who got it, sorry :( ). Snoozer then took the girdle to make up a bit for his loss.

Throughout the raid, a contest for the most damage dealt was taking place. The first 2 spots went to rogues, (Antigravity and Elthis) however Kroul, showing the power of an arcane spec, took the third place over Filtch. The 5th and 6th spots were occupied by Flicker and Sid respectively.

Overall a good run considering we had a few UBRS rookies. Duljan also gained a few more believers in his tanking powers.
